Vicente Gracias, M.D., is a member of the University Center for Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response. Currently, Dr. Gracias is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Gracias current serves on the National Imaging Faculty and the National Ultrasound Faculty for the ACS.
Dr. Gracias has been recognized with the UPHS Excellence and Innovation in Patient Safety Award for the implementation of a critical care telemedicine system (2007) and has served on the House Democratic Policy Committee's Healthcare Excellence and Accountability Response Team (2005). He has served as Guest Reviewer for the Journal of Trauma, the Journal of Thoracic Surgery, the Archives of Surgery, and hte European Journal of Surgery. In addition, Dr. Gracias is principal investigator or coinvestigator on a number of grant awards.
